CD25D Yanmar Impeller

I had an interesting esperience today. The hot light and buzzer came on while motoring with the Yanmar 1GM. In a rocky sea, I removed the impeller from the water pump and found that the rubber part had separated from the metal part that keeps it rotating on the pump shaft. This impeller was new and only had 9 hours on it! I've put in a new one but wonder what the probability of a repeat occurrence is. Anyone out there with similar experiences/recommendations.

I had this problem twice!! It turned out to be the white lithium grease I used to get the impeller lubicated. I switched to a marine waterproof gease and never had the problem again. By the way, Yanmar replaced one of the impellers before I found out what was going wrong!
