Having just installed new house batteries, a better charger, an Echo, a Smartgauge, and fuses, I thought I'd post the near final diagram of my electrical system upgrade.
I moved the charger output to the House batteries as recommended and eliminated the run to the Starter battery, but I have not moved the alternator output. It is still wired to the starter solenoid, which is on the Common side of the battery switch.
Is that a problem?
I feel like it would work as envisioned given that the switch is always left on the House Batteries (when not Off), allowing the Echo to keep the Starting battery charged. This leaves me with the option to switch the alternator directly to the Starting battery when running the motor. I am not sure I will ever do that given the Echo, but it saved me from messing with the alternator wiring - the real reason I left it there .
