The words that caught my attention for Saturday, 24 January, were "freezing rain in the morning". I am not sure but I think that is what we used to call "black ice". Very, very dangerous.
Joe, Jim, Neil, Dick and all, if you are going, be very careful. I want you to be able to visit Miami and sail aboard S/V Bali Ha'i (the pride of the fleet )
Fair winds,

Just returned home from the Northeast Fleet Winter Meeting. I'm proud to report a good time was had by all. We did have some icing and snowfall to contend with but we CDers are hardy folk. I would like to congratulate our fleet Captain and his helpers for organizing another enjoyable event. The guest speaker was informative and interesting, the Nautical Raffle was as popular as ever, and the camaraderie and food were exemplary.
Sorry I'm going to miss the Great Event as I am taking care of business on the Left Coast for a few weeks. Everyone have a great time and I am hoping for a full post-mortem report here on the board.

Thanks for worrying. If you like, I'll add you to the list I have of people I call "as soon as I get there."
FYI for the uninitiated, "black ice" looks like regular pavement but it's got this coating of super slippery ice that you can't see and can't feel until you try turning or stopping.
Special thanks to the Fleet Captain and all who made today's event spectacular.
It was indeed the best nautical raffle we've ever had, although I do wonder how one particular former Fleet Captain managed to get to the table around four times before I got there once!

Practice, practice, practice. (Also, I went up every time Lynne's number was called.)
