Ty in light air
I never had a motor on my Weekender. I did have an oar, but I rarely used it. Spend the motor money on a light 180 and or a Flasher. He'll be ready for anything. Make sure he knows how and when to reef, how to use a good anchor and how to heave to. Talk to him seriously about a safety harness.
