What a cool series you have going here Jim.

Thanks, John! My impetus for starting it was the idea that no one ever seems to have any photos of their own boat under sail, so I thought I'd take a photo of every Cape Dory that I see out sailing. It was my hope that other members would post photos of the Cape Dories they see out sailing, too, and eventually every Cape Dory owner would have a photo of their own boat under sail. I suppose nowadays everyone is a YouTube vlogger and has their own drone, so they have all the photos of their boats under sail that they could ever want. But I live in the dark ages, taking still pictures with cameras I hold in my own two hands, so I do this and hope that someone will do the same for me, too. Or maybe it's because I'm here on this old technology forum, and everyone sharing photos is now on Facebook. Regardless, I'll keep it up anyway. As I'm sure you can tell, I like photos of pretty boats under sail for their own sake.

Spotted this one on the hard at Burr Brothers in Sippican Bay. GHOST is her name. Does it belong to anyone here?

I spy...Chazz. This Cape Dory 33 was spotted yesterday sailing from Rockland out into West Penobscot Bay, Maine. It was a beautiful day for sailing, so I'm sure the crew had fun.

I spy...the Cape Dory 33 Astarte. She was out sailing on Friday during the 2022 Rockland Great Schooner Race. I saw one of the crew sporting a long lens, so maybe they got some good shots of the race.

Thanks! Penobscot Bay is the epicenter of the last working schooner fleet in the world, though instead of carrying granite, salted cod, and lumber, they now carry passengers. Friday was the annual Great Schooner Race. I counted 13 schooners participating. Here's a photo with 8 schooners in one shot:

They use a staggered start in the race for handicapping purposes, so it is tough to get a lot of boats in one shot except from a distance, but here is one with Heritage, Angelique (technically a gaff topsail ketch not a schooner), and J&E Riggin:

You really should cruise up to Maine the first chance you get. Between the Great Schooner Race, the Friendship Sloop Rendezvous, the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta and the Camden Classic Cup, the summer is full of opportunities to see beautiful classic boats out on the water doing what they were meant to be doing: sailing.

How about the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend? I think in the past they have had a schooner race, but I don't know if it's an annual thing.
