Hi John,
Recently returned from delivery to Bermuda, 50 foot Alden, left Wickford RI Oct. 30 arrived St. Georges Nov. 4th pm, then moved boat to Hamilton. Was that your CD I saw by the Royal Bermuda Dingy Club in Hamilton Sun. the 7th? We had clew of jib blow out, then wire halyard for staysail parted, then gooseneck broke off mast (bolts were too close to edge of mast under the sleeve). Sustained winds 30-40 kts. Tue-Thurs. We hove-to (worked great) 8 hrs. Thurs. and waited for wind to subside and shift behind us. My congratulations to you, friend, for managing those conditions. All I have to say is that even on the 50 foot Alden, the boat got small and the sea got big.
Best regards, Tony Betz CD 33 "Wildings" Falmouth, Maine

Re: CD 26 to Bermuda
honda did fine. i thought it would be drowned in the storm, but fired right up no problem. pull start is great when batteries are shot.

Great trip and write-up How did your Honda do on the voyage?

hurricane season
i left sat, oct 30, technically still season, but good forecast and this is the time recommended by jimmy cornell in "world cruising routes". later runs risk of winter storms.John...
I'm curious to know the date you left for Bermuda. Was it sometime in October, and if so, wasn't that during hurricane season?
Re: Was that you in Hamilton?
no. i arrived st george on sun eve 11/7 at 9 pm. never went to hamilton. nothing on the cape dory broke except the radar reflector hanging bridle which carried away. big boats-big problems, little boats-little problems.
