I'm at 15 years. The prior (3rd) was ten years.Ldybg wrote:I'm the 4th, but I believe the longest at 12 years for CD28 #125. The first two owners held her for about 9-10 years each.
With one in college now and one more to go, I don't think we'll upgrade any time soon.

Interesting how many 4th owners there are.
I am the 4th owner of Cassandra. And I'm on my 4th year with her. The second owner sold when he felt his age interfering, the third moved overseas, and couldn't find a slip available on Lake Geneva.
Happy Hannukkah and Merry Christmas to y'all.

I would try to add one more option "I am the 4th owner" but I am afraid it would mess up the poll!

I would bet a swift kick in the shins that there won't be five present day CD owners who bought new.
I would bet the farm that there aren't ten original present day owners.
FWIW, I am the second owner of a 1966 Ty, Grace, that I bought in 1967 in a distress sale. The original owner's wife highly distressed the poor guy.
If I knew how to spell Hanukkah, I'd wish it to everyone, so I'll just have to say Merry Christmas and Seasons Greetings to all.
Ho ho ho, don't spit to windward. ;>)

Re: Original Owners
I would take that bet if you were serious! We already have 4 original owners who responded to the poll and considering what a tiny sample this is compared to the many hundreds of boats built I think there is easily dozens of original owners of CDs out there. I have met a few original owners personally who do not even participate on these forums.Oswego John wrote:I would bet a swift kick in the shins that there won't be five present day CD owners who bought new.

Okay, UNCLE.
All bets are off. (I have tender shins).
Hmmm, how about betting on 10 original owners whose CD boats aren't white, are painted with Benjamin Moores matte house paint and have a Pratt and Whitney turbo auxiliary kicker?
How about betting a six pack of Guinness? (To be consumed in Miami on a certain person's CD 25D boat)
The seasons best wishes to all.

There is no official spelling, just best attempts to transliterate sounds that have no exact match and depending again on whether you're trying to be true to ancient or modern Hebrew.Oswego John wrote:If I knew how to spell Hanukkah, ...
By the way, the last few days I've been walking around with my white beard and Santa hat... little kids look at me with a "hmmmm... could be" look on their faces; adults either smile or pretend they don't see me.

I bought my Cape Dory Typhoon Weekender new in 1980 and only sold it two years ago. I currently own a CD25. So, here's one original owner.

New in '73
Bought a 25 through Glen-Ed in Annapolis and had it delivered in Gulfport, MS. Hauled it behind a U Haul truck for Army transfers and finally sold it in '91 when we moved up to an Alberg 30. The 25 got too crowded for two people and a Husky. The same became true for the Alberg when we retired.
Since then my wife has restored a Ty DS and a 25. We still have both for daysailing and occasional weekends and a CT 35 ketch for serious traveling.

original owner cd 28 cerca 1977
This may be an admission of perpetual stupidity,I bought my cd 28 03/1977. I have sailed it on the West Coast of California,Chesapeake bay, lake Champlain and am currently sailing the golf Mexico from Placida Florida. Same motor and drive train , second set of hank on sails. I guess I just don't like change.
