NE Felet Meeting

Post by Michael Heintz »

Gents and Ladys,

I will not be able to attend this year. I'm having surgery on the 20th and will not be recovered for awhile. I think this is the first meeting I've ever missed.

I'll especially miss the reception at Lonesome Dove and those mmmm good Dark and Stormys. And Ruth's fantastic hospitality.

Raise a glass for me !!!!!

What sort of %$&* schedules himself for surgery two days before an important CDSOA Northeast Fleet event?

We'll miss you! Be well and give us an update when you can.

Yes, it is fun to get to a Fleet event! (Get those registration forms in!!!)

No, the event is not free, although it is subsidized with Fleet funds and so you only pay part of the cost of lunch. Anytime we need to organize a group meal, "free" would be a budget buster.

Support of local Fleet events comes from a portion of your CDSOA dues so you're losing out if you don't participate.

Edit...

I meant I'm not free in the sense that I will be at work that weekend.

$20.00 seems perfectly reasonable for a buffet.

Not to mention that the Fleet Captain's speech is included for no additional fee.

Yes, and free advice is worth at least twice what you pay for it.

And the Nominees are . . .

Post by Carl Thunberg »

As much as I like to be able to surprise people at the meeting, only a fairly small percentage of our overall membership is able to be present. So, in the interest of an open process, our nominees for our 2011 slate of officers are:
Fleet Captain - Neil Gordon
Fleet Secretary - Joe Montana
Fleet Lieutenant - Joe Myerson

Dick Barthel has been our Fleet Lieutenant for several years, and is passing on the torch to Joe Myerson. Thanks for your service, Dick!

Nominees

Post by Carl Thunberg »

See the post above this one. I'm sorry I won't be there to present the nominations for this slate of officers in-person. Another opportunity presented itself, and I had to make a very hard decision. I'll miss you all!

And the Speaker is ...

Post by Neil Gordon »

I opened an email newsletter from an accounting firm this morning, which had this lead article:

Norman LeBlanc to Speak at Mass Tax Lawyers AssociationNorman LeBlanc, CPA will be speaking on the topic of IRS Collections: Defending against Levies & Liens

The good news is that the Norm Leblanc that's speaking at the Northeast Fleet Winter Meeting is not a CPA and he's not speaking about tax liens. Capt. Norman Leblanc is an experienced marine surveyor, with Cape Dory specific experience.

If you you have boat liens, see your accountant. If your boat leans, don't miss the meeting. (You've already missed the registration deadline... email me or Joe Montana and we'll figure a way to get you in.)
