crimping

Post by drysuit2 »

The most common injury I have from 40 years of sailing other peoples boats, is cuts from "meat hooks" that form from poor hand crimping. I trust mechanical connections like Norsman, etc. The machined swayges on my CD26 still seem to be in good working order according to my rigger. He inspected them in Oct 09; the last time she was hauled. Although I still inspect them myself each year. And I keep 100+ feet of Amstel for an emergency.

Once I switched to Sta-Set for my life lines, I never looked back. -I do have rubber tubing at each stantion through point to minimize chafing.
