By the way, right after posting that last message, I decided to test it (reguarding using a normal bronze nut). I placed the one of the nuts I had bought today in the indent on the inside of one of the trim rings, then laid a strait edge across the edges of the trim ring across the nut to check to see if there was any gap and the ring would indeed lay flush when installed and the bolt cut flush. Success, normal bronze nut (at least the brand sold at west marine) will work, will cost a lot less then what Spartan sells their special sheet metal nuts.

Jamb nuts

Post by Ron M. »

I had all my portlites out for rebedding, and replacement of interior teak ply. Some of the original 'nuts' would no longer purchase so I used bronze jamb nuts, they're much thinner and fit the 'dimple' on the back of the trim ring. I put a dab of locktite on each for the hell of it.
