Blue Crabs in a Mini Galley?

Post by Andy Denmark »

Anyone ever try steaming blue crabs in a Mini Galley? That might work well on a boat without a regular stove. Normally I steam them in the pressure cooker using a cup of apple cider vinegar & Old Bay seasoning.

I clean crabs by first by cutting them in half front to back, breaking off the carapace, shaking out the guts, and breaking off the small shell pieces at front and back. I think if the claws were broken off the pieces would be small enough to fit in a Mini Galley with some vinegar/Old Bay. This way the meat is clean and white w/o the "green goo" that comes with cooking them whole. Yum !

Neil's clam recipe sounds good. I'm definitely gonna' try that one 'cause we get lots of clams on the flats at Cape Lookout bight, a favorite local destination. Now I wonder about steaming clams in the pressure cooker per Neil's recipe. Hmmmmm?
