Dean-
We were entertaining on board this weekend so I did not have a chance to experiment. We closed the engine inlet seacock each time after shutting the engine down, reopened it after sailing and raw water flow was fine each time. I will try next weekend leaving the seacock open to determine if the other fixes corrected the problem. Frankly, I think it was just the increased impeller face clearance on a 25 year old pump. I am going to order a replacement pump, rebuild this one as a spare. I also have a fun task ahead in replacing my glow plugs.
Thanks to all of you for your interest/suggestions.
