Probably the handiest piece of gear aboard - I tie it to a lanyard.
Funny story - I had a sinking two years ago (hose let go on the mooring). All kinds of things floated away, and a few weeks later I found my "little john" (I think it's called) floating around in the bay.
I thought that was one of the most valuable pieces of salvage from the 'incident'
