I never tried rowing my Ty when I had it in the water. I do a lot of rowing in my dinks though. I have some very nice Shaw and Tenny sweeps that make not only easier but a greater joy. Kind of like those natural bristle brushes.

I started to think about those oars in relation to this thread. What if one were to make shafts with collars on them to extend the length of oars you are carrying anyway? My dinghy oars are already 7' long so and equal extension would give you 14'. It would save all the effort of shaping blades. Four 7' sections would be pretty manageable on most boats.

Just another though on solving the problem. It may not be a good one but it might work. Playing around with some cheap oars to try it might be a good idea.
