It's interesting about the nuances within the same model. We did not have any recesses for the berth legs on our 25D. The legs were tapered dowels with a threaded insert on top, and flat bottoms. I am sure, because we actually used the alleged double a lot. (We were smaller then.)

Also, we actually spent quite a few nights with four adults (total) in the cabin. It helps to know the other couple well. And not mind getting to know them a little better.

Once, we hosted our adult nephew for two nights aboard, and he brought a friend along. The first night, the friend and the nephew each took a silent panicky look at the quarter berth. Then they looked at each other. Finally, my nephew says grimly to his buddy, "I'll take it."
