Hello again.
Just getting back from our 2 ½ days of vacationing in Saint Augustine.
I still can’t believe all the response for a non-owning wanna be sailor.

Zeida & Neil I also agree with you whole heartily as far as the course go, and we plan to. But it would be nice to have something to go practice and learn on.
We looked at a gazillion more boats while at the beach. Oh now more confused than ever. A 25-foot with a 7.5’ beam looks so much smaller than a 29 with an 81/2’ beam. (More security says the wife)
I am with you Zeida about the price. I would offer 4500. And I think that is being generous after what I saw at the beach,
Oh well, I really thank all of you for all your input. I am going to keep looking for right now. If the seller of the C/D really wants to make a deal I can’t refuse then it will be a first boat for me. If not, I will wish him good day and thanks for his time.
Too all of you thank you and hopefully I will return to the site as an owner. You all have been great.
I notice most of you are located on the East Coast and north. FWIW I grew up in a small town just outside of Worcester Ma.

TAKE LESSONS!! Learn how a sailboat sails. Find a reputable school, maybe one that is under the USSAILING or ASA and work up thru the various levels. Practice. Get some books on sailing. Practice. Go w/ some experienced sailors. Practice. Along w/ the sailing part, you (probably) ARE going to need to learn about handling a sailboat under power. Its not like driving a car. All boats have their handling quirks and you have to learn how to work WITH the boat, not against it. For instance, CD's tend to have issues manuervering under power, when a strong wind is on the beam. Also, CD's have tend to have issues backing up. Have to keep a bag of tricks, when things come up.

Well Mark you and the rest of the fine people on this site are correct about one thing. I need lessons.
That I know and planned on taking if I by a boat or not. You are right and the wife has steered me in to going and renting a charter, (go for a ride) to see if sailing is what I want to do.
But I am sure you all know once you get the bug for something it is hard to get rid of.
But I can keep looking...
I have been trying to locate some good books on sailing other than the ones I will get at the course. Any sugestions?

I am tyring locate some local charters and courses at a decent rate. Tuff gig
