Typhoon Bronze Ports

I was wondering if someone that has bronze ports on their Ty weekender could post a picture so I could see what the finished product looks like. I am planning on putting them on mine but would like to see what they look like on the boat. Thanks.

I removed the plastic ones on my Typhoon. I then took out the old plastic, cleaned, sanded and painted the rings with Rustolium, bronze paint. After installing new Lexan and the ports back in the boat they looked very good. They are not those beautiful heavy bronze ports but my wallet was not nearly as light either. Paint seems to hold up very well on the plastic, Steve.

After the Annual CD Meeting (10th Anniversary Meeting) in Annapolis, we rented a car and drove to Robinhood Maine. While there we purchased a pair of round bronze ports for KnoTy Boy. I plan to install them next month. The plastic and bronze have different hole patterns, one has 5 holes and the other has 6 holes. You will need to fill the old holes and drill new holes. I also ordered bronze mounting hardware from Jamestown Distributers.

HI Mstach check out Bristol Bronze. He makes them for the Typhoon and they even fit the plastic port screw holes. No drilling or filling needed, a perfect fit. I ordered the two ports and the hull # medallion and am very pleased. Rob

I just purchased a pair of beautiful bronze ports with interior trim rings from Marinershardware.com. Total cost including shipping was $104.

I also just picked up my 3/8 baltek coring, peel ply and bleeder fabric for my deck repair. I'll post photos when the materials are cut for the vacuum bag job.

I put in a pair of non-opening bronze ports from ABI in '98. They made the boat look much better than the cost of the ports. I wanted my Ty to look as good as my brother's.

Not a big job but you will want a grinder or jig saw and a good curved rasp to make the holes larger.
