I found a 75 CD25 for sale with hull number CPDE0001. This seemed odd to me since I thought CD25 started manufacture in 1973. I was also surprised at the differences from my 77 CD25. Inside layout, motor well, winch mountings all different, no bronze bow cleat, but has teak covering on hatches etc. Anyway, boat is in tough condition but everything is there and could be brought back. Problem, owner cut two large holes in transom and rear of cockpit to allow motor to tilt out of water when in engine well. So much for the latest solution to the "curse of the motor well"!! How difficult is it to repair this type of damage? Holes are about 1 foot square in cockpit and 1x2 foot square in transom. I question seaworthyness of boat with the hole in the transom. Also,is there any collector value to owning hull 0001 or should I take a pass? Comments appreciated. Thanks, Ken

Ron:
I can't help you with with the hull# date problem accept to suggest that you might want to have a look at the title/registration to make sure the date is right. My dad had a 73 cd25 and yes there are some differences. The design of the lasserette being the bigest. others are no bridge deck, teak winch mounts different bow chocks. Basically though it's the same nice boat. By the way my brother and I both have 1977 cd25s, about 12 hulls apart. There are some surprising differences between those two boats too.

Hull #1 is like the beta test version. There's no collector value (unless maybe Elvis owned it)... and generally the market would consider hull #2 to be a better boat.
As for this particular hull #1, I agree with Ron.
