Refinishing Cetol

Post by Bill Jarrell »

Hello All,
Overall the bright work finished in Cetol is in good shape; however, there are some places where the finish has begun to wear off and a few places where the teak has turned silver. On these places do I need to sand down to bare wood or do I just reapply? How many coats do I need to apply?

Thanks

Bill

Touchups

Hi Bill:

What I do is sand lighty the affected area, feathering it to good finish. I then put on one coat of brown, followed by 4 to 6 coats of the clear. This is only on the area to be refinished. If you want after completing the repair you can put a coat of clear over the entire piece. Usually this proceedure gives a good match.
