Typhoon Roller Furling

Post by adamsjason »

I recently bought my Ty, I am interested in setting up a roller furling system. Any ideas as to make/model? Must I buy a new headsail?

The Schaefer has worked fine for years. It's the smallest one they make.

I have a CDI furler and like it. They come in all sizes.

You can have your sail converted.

Typhoon furler

My Typhoon came with a CDI Flexible Furler 2 which works well. Here's a link to the CDI website where you can check out prices and download the manual to get an idea of installation, rigging and operation.

roler furler for a Ty

Post by Dick Villamil »

I put a CDI #1 unit on my Ty and really like it. Rigging Only will set you right up for the best price. You need a luff tape on the headsail and probably a UV cover. Look for a used sail on line. I have sailed in winds up to 25 and she furls nicely. :D
