FROZEN SEACOCKS

Post by CREID »

I am looking for suggestions on freeing my seacocks. They are frozen in the open postion. Boat is in the water. I have tried WD-40 and some penetrating oil with a slight tap of a hammer where I can reach. Does not free them. They are bronze, of course. Would appreciate some help.

More penetrating oil and patience. You might also try backing the nuts off just a bit.

There are drain plugs on either side of the housing. If the seacocks are open you should be able to pull those with no consequence and add your favorite liquid lubricant and corrosion buster. Kroil is my current favorite, but I don't know what it does to bronze. Kerosene might help too.
Keep on sailing,
