The fluke anchor that came with my 25D (hull #99) is too small for the boat and anchoring conditions in LI sound and out to Block and Nantucket. I have looked at the offerings by West Marine and there are several in the same price range. I recall Practical Sailor did a review of fluke anchor holding a while back but can't locate the issue. Does anyone have recomendations in the 13-15 lb category eg. Danforth II vs. WM Performance vs the Aluminum Fortress which is intruiging for its light weight but seems to have less working load.
Thanks in advance from the CD25D crowd.

Re: Anchor for CD25D
There's a good letter in PS this week about anchors.
Btw... what's the bottom like in LI Sound?

Having sailed that area for about 7 years, I would recommend a CQR 20 for mounting on your bow roller. I know you have the anchor locker but my problem with anything less (CQR15), Danforth 12H, etc. is less than what may be required in T-Storms with shifting winds. Especially at Block with the shale type bottom. CQR and their like...will reset with wind change.

Re: Anchor for CD25D
Jim,
I agree with Dana. I've used a 20 lb CQR for the five seasons we have had our 25D, LOKI and it works very well in all of the conditions we have encountered. We also carry a 10 lb Danforth and a 20 lb Luke. The CQR stores well on the bow roller, and is attached to the anchor locker cover with a bronze casting I purchased from Spartan Marine.
Best Wishes,
Lee
