Hurrah for new engine

Post by Bob DuPont »

It took a month but Pelican has her new Westerbeke 20B Two. Now she can do hull speed under power. Before we were lucky to do 3 knots with favorable wind and current -- not a comfortable situation when a hurricane is approaching and ya GOTTA move.

Anyway, to celebrate Pelican's new mobility, I'm offering the Yanmar Operation Manual for the YSM8 free to anyone who might need it. First reply gets it. Just send me your request off-group and please include mailing instructions. Email to capedory80atcomcastdotnet.

Bob, before you...

send it off to someone, can you scan it and email a PDF to Cathy so a reference copy can be put on the site? I'm assuming that this model was a standard model on CD's.

No problem. I can scan it before I put it in the mail. Thanks for the suggestion.

Bob,
Are you wondering "Why didn't I do this sooner?!"

Yes, you're right. But we really didn't want to spend the extra money. Even considered selling her. But Pelican is so much fun to sail that we decided simply to go ahead. And now we certainly don't regret it.

Repower

Post by Sailing Soldier »

I'm considering replacing my tired old Volvo 7A next Winter.

May I ask why you chose the Westerbrake?

I've looked at beta marine & yanmar diesels so far.

Thanks,
