Makes me think of the wisdom of dealing with spare parts though... which is to install the spare and keep the old part as backup. That way you know in advance that the new part fits and works. If it later fails, you have a spare that fits and works. So don't be so fast to toss away last millenium's impeller and/or alternator belt.
