Engine Mounts
Hello. Have any of you CD25D or Yanmar 1GM owners replaced the engine mounts? Is this a job best left to the professional mechanic? Do the four mounts have to be replaced as a set, or can an individual mount be replaced by itself? The rubber shock absorber or vibration pad? on one of the mounts is deteriorated and flattened out. Is this a cause for concern? Thanks.

I have been there done that. Not to difficult at all, but getting the correct mounts was a chore!!! I used Torrenson Marine (sp) but on the web, and we had to look for the correct mounts. I have a copy of the correct part numbers on the boat, but may not get to the boat until after the Onset meeting (and I am driving taking my time on VayCayShun).
Other than getting the correct mounts there was no big problem. You have to re-align the shaft once completed (follow instructions in manual), and have someone (two better) to help. I adjusted the aft mounts, a friend adjust the fronts, and another friend acted as gopher. We marked the position of the old mounts on the engine bed, and even counted the threads on the post of the mounts. All told the re-alignment of the shaft was the hardest. BTW, we used a small scissors jack that fit under the engine to lift it and it worked like a charm.
RE: the mounts. I have the name of the individual I dealt with and the part numbers on the boat, but it may be the end of July before I get back there. Hell, I just remembered I have to take a freinds BBQ back to the marina, may get the info tonight.
Anyway if you have helpers and a little patience, it is not that big a deal.

PS--Re: Engine Mounts
I was advised to replace all the mounts at once. Dont know if that was the correct thing to do ro not, but that is was I did ($275 or so).
