Marinas/Ports Near Manhattan

Post by Laura Calderone »

Hi,
I was wondering if there are any Manhattanites on the list that could recommend any ports/marinas near the city (Long Island Sound preferred to the Hudson)? I hope to have delivery on my Typhoon by beginning of August. We are new to sailing, have sailed from City Island, Oyster Bay and Echo Bay.

thanks, Laura

Laura,

Probably the best marinas in the Manhattan area are on the New Jersey side of the Hudson: Liberty Landing, Newport, Lincoln Harbor Yacht Club and Port Imperial are excellent facilities though on the expensive side. There is ferry service between NY and Port Imperial, Lincoln Harbor as well as Newport Marinas.

If you don't mind sitting on a mooring, the Manhattan Yacht Club operates a mooring field at Pier 25 in Hudson River Park and the price is pretty reasonable.
