Shrink-wrap question

I've never dealt with shrink wrap and would like to know if I can
put in a zipper door in existing wrap...what materials I should get
from a boating store, do's and don'ts. I am very handy, but this is
new territory. Thanks for your input(s). Bill

This late in the (Winter) season, I'd take the cheap way out. Heavy plastic sheet and duct tape. Slit the shrink wrap so you can get in/out. Cover the slit with an oversized square of plastic and seal the sides. You should only have to partly unseal to fold back the "door."

These doors are zipper openings with a mounting "frame". Simply tape (use shrink wrap tape) the frame over the area you want to get in, un zip the door and cut out the plastic inside. Save the door in the Spring. They are good for three or four seasons.

I've always used an approach similar to Neil's.

Taking a utility knife, I cut a door-shaped opening in the shrinkwrap (in the shape of an inverted "U" actually). Then I use plastic mailing tape to seal it up.

I find that the lightweight tape holds well. Sometimes, if it's been a long time between uses, I have to cut the tape, but all that does is build up extra plastic around the door opening.
