I saw some discussion about a month ago on the prop for a CD33 and I am looking for some advice for the prop on my boat. It currently has a 2 blade 14 X 10 powered by a 24hp Universal Diesel. The prop seems terribly undersized and I think it may even be cavitating at cruising rpms.
I'm interested in opinions on feathering props as well as fixed 3 blade props.
Thanks

Re: CD-330 Prop
It sounds like you are correct about your prop. I just replaced the prop on my CD 28. I have a 24 hp Volvo penta and my boat originally had a 2 blade prop with a pitch of 14....and it was insufficient. If you contact Michigan Wheel, they can fax you a form for prop analysis. You supply alot of physical data about you boat, engine, etc. and they analyze it for a prop recommendation. I wanted a three blade prop and their analysis suggested a 3-blad prop with a pitch of 6. As it turned out, I still have HP to spare so I will have the 3 blade repitched to about 8. In any case, there is alot of voodoo around props so having the analysis done is definitely a good way to start. I think Michigan Wheel is in detroit.

Re: CD-330 Prop
The advertising for the Cape Dory 330 indicated a 3 blade prop would be "standard equipment". Our 330 has a 2 blade prop, as it would seem does yours. Has anyone found a 330 with the "standard" prop?

I have a CD330 with a 3 blade prop. I do not know if it is the original blade but it is a three blade 10 RH 12 bronze propeller on a 1" stainless shaft.M. Hope this helps.
