Ty Trailer Boat Stand Specs

Post by capnron209 »

Can someone give me directions to locating the website that shows how to build a Ty trailer? I have seen it before, but can't remember how to locate it. Thanks for your assistance.

The plans are right here on this web site. In case you weren't aware of it, you are, right now, using a resource of the Cape Dory Sailboat Owners Assn (CDSOA). Just surf the rest of it and you'll find what you're looking for.

Scroll to the top of any page of the message board and click on the CDSOA logo or the CDSOA link, that'll bring you to our home page. Once there, use the menus, located on the left side of the page, to navigate the rest of the site.

Anyway, you'll find the trailer plans in the "Where to Look" section, but CLICK HERE to go right to the links for the trailer plans.

Hope this helps,
Cathy

Typhoon trailer plans

Post by RIKanaka »

Ron,

I'm not sure what trailer plans you were looking for. Cathy's link leads to plans for a Typhoon cradle. The designer of the cradle rightfully cautioned everyone in an archived post that what works for a static cradle may not necessarily apply to a moving trailer. The measurements in those plans, however, are useful for making any modifications to an existing motor or sail boat trailer.

If you're looking for some pictures of Typhoon trailers to view you can try this link:

Ty Trailers

Most of those pictured are garden variety trailers that have been adapted for the Typhoon. You'll undoubtedly get some ideas that you can try out on your own trailer modifcation design if you prefer that over a factory-built custom trailer.

The last several pictures are "before and after" of mods that I made to my trailer (Aluminum frame Loadmaster 3500# capacity). If you have any questions about it don't hesitate to contact me.
Aloha,

Bob Chinn
