I tried to access the water tanks in my CD30 cutter by removing the screws to the plywood base of the settee. With all the screws removed the plywood base wouldn't move. It seems to be locked into the moulding strip. Any suggestions? By the way, I am trying to trace a leak that occurs when the tanks are topped up and I use the pressure system.

Last summer, for the very same reason and to cutout more storage access, I also did this evolution. On my 1977 CD30K the port settee plywood base has a set of wood screws that go from the bottom framing piece inside the lockers (outboard the settee) down into the FRP (fiberglass) hull liner. With a flashlight, stick your head inside the lockers outboard of the settee. If the above mentioned screws are installed, you will see them. I did not have outboard screws on the starboard side.

You've probably already checked, but look at the fittings where the tubing goes into the tank. We just went through this same drill, but didn't have any trouble getting the plywood off after removing about 20 screws! Our leak was in one of the auxiliary access ports - a crack had formed around the fitting. We applied copious amounts of 5200 with a syringe to be sure it got into the smallest cracks (any other remedy would have involved replacing the entire tank). So far, so good. Good luck!
