Has anyone 'fixed' the position of their boom/gooseneck to mast rather than standard floating arrangement with downhaul? What installation procedures& parts used and what compromises needed or experienced. This thought is to accommodate dodger and bimini installation (first time) without concern for boom coming down on it while underway (preferred) as well as a bit more heads-up space in cockpit.

Re: Fixed Gooseneck on CD25
Boy, I wouldn't disable a downhaul if I had one. My old boat had one and my CD25D doesn't and do I ever miss it. Luff adjustment is sooo much easier with a downhaul. You might be able to move everything up the mast enough to dodge the dodger.

Re: Fixed Gooseneck on CD25
We did this on our CD22 (#40, Carina). It seems that I found, or made a fitting that slid down into the sail track. Then screwed it into place. I rigged a cunningham to adjust the luff of the main. This was probably 15 years ago, and I am not sure of the details any more (I am suffering from a case of CRS). It worked fine for as long as we owned 'Carina'.
Good luck,

Can't you buy a sail track stop (for about $10) to keep the boom from dropping down too far? (This assumes you can raise the sail higher in the track.)
