Typhoon Weekender PHRF

Post by Lang »

Does anyone know the PHRF for Typhoon Weekender?
I am thinking of racing in the cruiser open in Kings' Cup in Phuket early next year....

Also like to hear from anyone out there who have raced their typhoons. This would be my 1st time racing but my husband/crew has raced before in a BCC in these waters and did not finish too shabby. He feels that a small boat like Typhoon may do better than those big guys out there in low wind and relatively calm seas condition. Any stories to share?

Happy sailing.

PHRF for Typhoon

Try this link:

http://www.ussailing.org/portsmouth/tab ... 5off-3.htm

Move down to Typhoon, and you will find:

Typhoon (Alberg & CD) TYP18 106.7 109.5 107.4 104.9 104.5

106.7 is what we use in the Monmouth Boat Club in New jersey.

It lets me beat J-24's ... sometimes. :D

Ahoy Lang,

Base PHRF ratings for Cape Dorys listed at Sandy Bay Yacht Club include 198 for 31 ft, 219 for 28 ft, 243 for 27 ft, 252 for 25D, 261 for 25 ft and 282 for 22 ft; sorry, no Typhoon was listed. My best guess is 330 or there abouts.
Recall, the oft cited benchmark, a J-24, is 168.

Avast & Cast Off,

I'm sorry.
I gave the rating for the Portsmouth and not the PHRF.

By the way, the J-24 is rated as 80.9.

Some time ago on the old web site, I found a rating of 318. I have been racing with that.
