MEMORIAL SERVICE ARRANGEMENTS

A memorial service for Roald Horton will be held Friday, October 7, 2005 at
Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore/Annapolis Blvd., Severna Park,
MD. The time will be 1:30PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Roald’s
name has been established at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church. The intention
is to use any funds for the new additions planned for the pipe organ at the
church. The family feels that this matches nicely with his love of music and
especially his many years singing in the choir.

Thanks Mitch for posting this information.

I hope anyone who is so inclined and can, will join me on Friday at 1:30 PM as I plan on attending the service both as a CDSOA member and friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with Marilyn and the family. As active CDSOA members (#101) during the last 9 years, both he and Marilyn could be counted on to attend events both on and off the water and to lend a hand where ever it was needed. So I know anyone that had the pleasure of knowing Roald, will understand when I say, Roald's warm smile and charming humor will surely be missed.

CDSOA Donation in Roald Horton's name made to Woods M..

Post by slkairis »

In case you were wondering...

In honor and memory of our friend, CDSOA Founding Member and Board Member, Roald Horton, CDSOA Inc. will be making a donation to the Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church - Pipe Organ Fund in lieu of sending flowers. It seems only fitting that we honor the families request by contributing to something that Roald loved and enjoyed as much as being part of the Cape Dory Community.

I took the time to look up his name in the archives on this Board and it came as no surprise that Roald's postings to the Board go back beyond the formation of CDSOA. Even then, his knowledge and love of Cape Dories was evident. (See 7/5/98 posting)

On a personal note, like so many of the members here on the Cape Dory Message Board or in CDSOA, my path didn't cross Roald's until my husband Mike and I became members of CDSOA and joined the Cape Dory Community. During the past 6 years we had the opportunity and pleasure of getting to know and work with Roald and Marilyn. Roald always had an idea to share or the time to assist.

Thank you Roald you will be missed.

Marilyn our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.

A special note to Cape Dory members who are planning to ATTENDI THE MEMORIAL SERVICE THIS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7th, at 1:30 PM -- You are welcome to join me for lunch at Noon in Severna Park - (restaurant to be determined) prior to attending the service please contact me by email: slkairis@hotmail.com by Thursday,
or by cell: 410-340-0011 by Noon Fri.

Roald Horton Memorail Fund

Post by Jeff Wright »

Hello everyone,

By now you have hopefully read the write-ups relating to Roald's Memorial this Friday. As the Chesapeake Fleet Captain I am asking all those that can , make a donation to the memorail fund. Roald was certainly a integral member of the Cape Dory Board in the very beginning and could always be counted on to help. For those that cannot come to the Memorail service and are unsure as to where to send a check, please send it to our Treasurer (Bob Emmons) and I will ask him to forward the money to the approperate location. Any questions please feel free to email me at jwright@bluecrab.org. Thanks, Jeff
