CD-25 Rigging Question
We are the proud new owners of a 1979 CD-25. She is beautiful. However, the previous owner said that he ran the jib sheets inside of all the shrouds and through the deck fairlead back to the winch. We thought this looked odd and have been trying other arrangements. We have found that outside the forward lower shroud and inside the upper and aft lower shrouds works better. If there are CD-25 owners out there who can help, please comment. Thanks!
Re: CD-25 Rigging Question
I either don't understand the question or why either configuration is being used. On our 79 CD25, the sheets are outside coming back on each side to a block mounted on a 3 foot traveler mounted on top of the toe rail. There are also blocks attached to the aft stanchions. These blocks are used at times instead of the toe rail mounted blocks depending on wind conditions and type and/or size of staysail being used.
Sorry if I just didn't understand your question. Sometimes we can't see the forest from the trees.
The CD25 is a great performer - you will enjoy her.

Re: CD-25 Rigging Question
I ran my "JIB SHEETS" inside of the shroud. I run my sheets for the "GENNY" outside. By setting the blocks on either side forward and or aft will either power or de-power the sail. But as far as I know Jib sheets traditionaly run inside and Genny outside of the shrouds.Mark J. Marroni wrote: We are the proud new owners of a 1979 CD-25. She is beautiful. Smooth sailing and enjoy, which ever way you do.

Re: CD-25 Rigging Question
My answer is the same as Paul Saltzman's. Jib sheets inside to the fairlead and jenny sheets outside everything to the track on the toe rail. Good sailing! Jerry

Re: CD-25 Rigging Question
I too have a '79 CD25. I run my jib sheets outside the shrouds. I couldn't see running them inside, especially for my 150.Mark J. Marroni wrote: We are the proud new owners of a 1979 CD-25. Re: CD-25 Rigging Question
Thanks Ron, Paul, Jerry & Kevin! We definately run our Genny sheets outside but on our old boat ( a SeaSprite 23) we ran the Jib sheets outside of the forward shroud but inside of the middle and aft most shroud. I screwed a small tang to the toerail and taped it to the turnbuckle on the forward shroud to give a smooth running surface for the shroud. However, I'll try the CD25 Jib sheets inside all the way. Thanks again for the info and the positive words abiut the boat.Mark J. Marroni wrote: We are the proud new owners of a 1979 CD-25. She is beautiful. Re: CD-25 Rigging Question
Mark,
I have a 1984 CD25D and if we are configured the same the standard jib runs outside the first shroud and inside the next two. If you have a 150 (recommended) this will run outside everything.
Great boat, have fun.

Re: CD-25 Rigging Question
Mark, forget the standard arrangement and run a self tender for 100% and smaller. It's a lot easier to single hand and I got better performance on my 22 with the self tender. Get back to me if you want the particulars.Mark J. Marroni wrote: We are the proud new owners of a 1979 CD-25. She is beautiful.
