What do you recommend for maintaining the high gloss on the T/H sole
Thanks

maintaining gloss on teak and holly sole

Post by Carter Brey »

This season, after sanding down to bare wood and applying 2-step teak cleaner and brightener, I laid on six coats of pure traditional spar varnish. It looks fabulous, and has worn very well.

If you're concerned about it being slippery, you can sprinkle on some non-skid deck grit before the final coat.

Others have had good experience with hard polyurethane.

Two seasons ago I tried Minwax polycrylic as a time saver. Learn from my mistake; don't bother. Several months of scuffling feet, sea water, and children's badly-aimed pee pee around the head had it looking very low-rent.

delamination at "low spots"

Post by chase »

My new CD 30 has a few small spots where it has begun to delaminate from holding water. A small spot in the head, etc. Any experience doctoring this?
