Neil,

To go along with your socks comment, FAMOUS LAST WORDS

As he's getting the bum's rush, the old heave ho," 86ed" out of a bucket of blood, the eternal optimist haughtily cries out "I've been kicked out of better places than this."

He's gotta be defiant and, above all, proud as he's flying through the door and landing in the gutter. A true class act.

What about socks?????

You know that you've gotten it right when they start tossing you out of some pretty bad places, too.
The bad news about the above scenario is that sometimes a thorough arse whupping goes with it! Not my favorite out come!

What a thread!

WHAT A THREAD

You are right. As we all know, this has nothing to do with a Cape Dory topic. CD owners NEVER frequent places like that or get rowdy. Never let it be said.

Rather than drink in a rowdy bar, I'd invite some rowdy patrons back to the boat.

I finally removed all the stuff off my boat and was surprised to find things I had forgotten I had, thought I had lost , and didn't realize I had! So, I've been doing a search here for storage ideas. Great source as usual. Found 6" x 9" nylon ditty bags at campmor, been looking at the storage container aisle at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, other stores, and online.

Any new ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I freeze gallon or half gallon plastic bottles of water. This gives you several blocks of ice that has some insulation to slow the melting but not enough insulation to stop chilling the ice box. The added benefit is the melted water can be used for a nice cool drink instead of draining into the bilge.

I've done the same with the bladders from boxed wine. Hold them under the faucet and they're pretty easy to fill, rinse and refill. I toss one into the cooler for transport of cold stuff from home to boat, then into the ice box.

Neil,

You do realize that you just admitted to drinking boxed wine,

I pour the wine down the drain. I just buy it for the bladders.

I'm led to believe though, that boxed wine stores easily, in significantly less space than bottles, and keeps well for an extended period of time after opening. I do draw the line at single malt scotch that comes in a cardboard box.

Neil,

Haven't seen the single malt in box form yet but I'll stay clear as well!

I think I've had some boxed whiskey before, at least the paper bagged type. I'd really worry though if I started in on flavored vodka juice boxes!

If you are going to be a seaman and a Scotch drinker it should really be Duggan's Dew of Kirkintilloch :!: Although I don't think it comes in a box.
