Ken; I just repowered a 81'CD25 with a Nissan 9.8..The motor fit with no problems..just have to have the mounting board on the forward side of the metal brackets.Ken Boyd wrote: I am purchasing CD-25 without outboard motor. Ken: I bought a Johnson 8hp with a 15 inch shaft. I cut the mounting board down to the top of the brackets. I like the short 8 because it is short and light enough to store in the cockpit locker on a board I bolted in there. This keeps the motor clean and out of sight. The boat sails a bit faster when not dragging a prop too. The 8 pushes well with a sail prop. -John.Ken Boyd wrote: I am purchasing CD-25 without outboard motor. Re: Need information regarding outboard for CD-25
Ken, I just replaced my Johnson 9.9 sailmaster with a four stroke 5hp Honda. I attempted to replace the 9.9 with a 8hp Honda but found that, absent any radical surgery, it was impossible to fit. I was fully sold on the new four strokes in that they are environmentally friendly, offer 100% increased fuel efficency, whisper quiet, smokeless, and apparently the hp is measured at the prop on 4 stroke whereas on 2 stroke they are measured at the power head. Meaning you get the hp the engine is rated directly at the prop as opposed to losing up to 20% from the head to the prop, thus allowing you less motor. 5 hp is less than I wanted but will suit my needs and more importantly.. it fits. fine.Don Carr wrote:Ken; I just repowered a 81'CD25 with a Nissan 9.8..The motor fit with no problems..just have to have the mounting board on the forward side of the metal brackets.Ken Boyd wrote: I am purchasing CD-25 without outboard motor.
