On my CD-28 with the bowsprit supporting a Bruce anchor on a roller, I have a problem with one of the Bruce anchor flukes chewing up the port underside of the bowsprit while on starboard tack. It probably occurs when on a 25-30 degree heel or so. I'd like to put something underneath the bowsprit to keep the gnawing from happening but before I did I thought I'd see if anyone else had a better idea. This doesn't happen on port tack since there is enough clearance to the fluke.

Re: Anchor Gnaw!
Ed I have friends with a CD 30 and they put an sheet of Lexan over the top of the bowsprit to protect it from the anchor and chain. ( It looks better than it sounds). Maybe you could just use a piece underneath. Or maybe a piece of brass?? Good luck

Dear Ed,
The next time you see one of those black bungees, the ones that hold down truck tarps, on the side of the road, carefully stop and pick it up. I place it around the neck of my Bruce and hook the two end hooks to the base of the bow stansion.
