I am currently heading down the Delaware River and anticipate making the Cape May Canal around 06:00 Tuesday, May 11, 1999. I have the "1999 Waterways Guide" and "The Intercoastal Guide", neither of which provide any information on marinas in the Cape May basin. Does anyone have any suggestions or information on Cape May. I am looking to leave my boat in Cape May for the remainder of the week (work obligations) and return to sail her home to New York next weekend.
The low pressure system which stalled over Georgia / South Carolina caused me to run up the Intercoastal for 3 days and put me significantly behind schedule. I lost most of my crew to their job obligations on Sunday night in Norfolk so I ran up the Chesapeake and down Delaware solo. Now I am running as fast as I can to try and get as close to home as possible.
Any information or suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: URGENT - Need Marina info for Cape May NJ
As you complete the CApe May Canal from the Del. Bay you will come into a marina in the harbor, starboard side I think. If you follow the channel(starboard again) into the inner harbor, there is another marina at the end, about a half mile or less from the end of the canal. (Could be South Jersey Marina) The outer one is easy to get into but a little exposed. Easy walk to center of town. The inner one is very protected but watch the currents, they really can run through there. The Lobsterhouse restaurant is right next to the inner marina.
The harbor is exposed and not a good place to leave your boat unattended. Last time through I was alone on our CD 28 and left before dawn, good conditions, made Shark River before dark. Shark, Mannesquam and Atlantic City are the only inlets we have been in on our way north or south, all could be done in the dark as well but the others look difficult even in daylight. Good luck

Thanks Tom & Catherine for Marina info for Cape May NJ
Cathrine / Tom - I have contacted The Harbor View Marina and will be securing at their fuel dock until they open at 8:30am. I appreciate the quick response and information. I knew I could count on CCDOA to help me out. My cruising plans are usually very detailed with many contingency plans if the unexpected were to occur. In this case several "unexpecteds" occurred and all my plans were tossed over the side.
Thanks again and I hope to see you folks in Onset - I owe you a few drinks.

Re: Thanks Tom & Catherine for Marina info for Cape May
Chris,
Harbor View Marina's fuel dock offers deep water plenty enough for your boat but be careful on your approach. The approach depths should be about 7 feet but don't stray, it's very shallow all around. If you cannot get into Harbor View, you can try South Jersey Marina (VHF Channel 9) on Cape Island Creek. It's just beyond the commercial dock and the Lobster House restaurant. It's a very narrow approach but the water is deep. Utsch's Marina (VHF Channel 16), the Canyon Club (VHF Channel 9), and the Corinthian Yacht Club (609-884-8000) are very popular too. They all have at least 5 foot approach depths at low tide. There's also usually room to anchor both north and south of the Coast Guard Station, south of the daymarked channel. There's 4 to 7 feet of water there at low tide and the bottom is black mud with good holding.
