Supplier of Ports for Cape Dory - useful?

Post by Walt Bilofsky (Webmaster) »

Folks:

I received the inquiry below. I've seen posts asking about replacement portlights for Cape Dorys, so thought this might be a useful supplier to add to our list. Does he qualify as Cape Dory specific? If not, will he if he makes up the 29" ports he asks about?

Please advise me.

A fellow ordered some ports from me and gave me the web site of the California Cape Dory Assoc. He was refered to my company by another owner who had seen my ports installed on another Cape Dory. I would like to get listed or linked to this site as a supplier of Ports for cape dory. How do I do this? Secondly, I am interested in making up some larger windows that would directly replace the 29" fixed ports on these boats. Is it possible to survey the owners to find out the different sizes and cabin thickness for the fixed ports originally installed?. My large opening ports carry first rate 10mm tempered and laminated glass and I would use such heavy glass for my fixed lites as well. The six sizes of opening ports that I carry will replace the original plastic with only slight modification to make room for the scuppers.

Thanks for you help. My site is at www.newfoundmetals.com

I replaced the 4 large and 2 small fixed portlites on my '75 CD25 with opening bronze ones from New Found Metals last year. They are quite attractive and the increased air below is great. However they were NOT CD specific. I selected the closest size to the old ones but nevertheless it took quite a lot of hull and liner work to retrofit. If NFM is willing to make EXACT replacements for the CD windows this would be a real plus.
