Is a C-250 a Cape Dory boat?

Post by Ariosa »

I've owned two Cape Dory boats and enjoyed them, but do not now own one. The other day while sailing between the Bohemia and Patapsco Rivers on the Chesapeake, I noticed a handsome boat with the designation C250 on its sail. Is this an updated version of the Cape 25, or what? Can anyone tell me about this boat? Size, maker, accomodations? Many thanks.

The "250" might have been "25D" which would have made it the Cape Dory 25D. It replaced the popular earlier C25 model. It would have had 3 portlights on each side. It is still made today under the Octavia name. There is web site reference to Octavia on the main page of this website. I think it is located under the current manufacturers. The referenced site has a colored picture of the boat which you can compare to the boat you saw. Or you can just do a search for "Octavia" on this site.

Cal Boats also uses a "C" in its sail logo. The "C" is very round, like an "O" (Ohhh). Maybe you saw a Cal?
