A lesson for us all
As the video shows, ladies and gentlemen, it's vitally important to match your ground tackle to the bottom over which you anticipate anchoring. A very large Danforth would have had a better chance of piercing the deck of the obstructing vessel for a good hold.

Obstructing vessel as a mooring block?
Maybe they thought the anchor would lodge in the obstructing vessel which would conveniently sink immediately and act as a very large mooring block?
