I'm contemplating the purchase of a Johnson 9.9 Sailmaster outboard for my CD25.My concern is fitting it in the well. The seller is bringing it to the boat to ensure that it will fit before I complete the purchase. The motor is a 1998 leftover; it has a 25" shaft and an electric starter.
I would appreciate any advice from anybody who has had experience in installing that motor. I would also welcome any comments regarding the ease and effectiveness of operation of that motor.
Thanks.

Re: Johnson Sailmaster Outboard for My CD25
We had an Evinrude 9.9 long shaft with electric start on our CD25. It was a tight fit and required some persuasion in removal and installation. We now have an 8 hp Yachtwin, which is lighter and easier to install. In addition, its smaller size allows a small amount of pivot which is a tremendous help in maneuvering in tight quarters. On the down side the smaller unit is still a two stroke and the boat is slightly underpowered the in heavy conditions.
