Question re: timing of the NE Fleet rendezvous in August

The 2005 CDSOA Northeast Fleet rendezvous is tentatively scheduled to take place Tuesday thru Thursday, August 2-4 in Jamestown, RI with the boats scheduled to start arriving on Tuesday, shore excursions in Newport on Wednesday and the seminar and group dinner on Thursday. We've already booked both the Conanicut Marina and the The Bay Voyage Inn in Jamestown for these dates.

The way I see it, if it's a Tue-Thu deal, that gives many of the sailors amongst us Sat-Mon to sail to Jamestown and Fri-Sun to sail home. So that's an ideal 1-week vacation. Of course for some it will take longer but they can just tack on the needed days ahead of and after those days.

But I've been contemplating rescheduling the event to take place July 31-August 2 instead but will only do that if the majority feel that Sunday thru Tuesday would better suit their needs. And both the marina and the restaurant have to be able to accommodate us those days.

For the sailors it probably doesn't really matter that much because they'll take the required days off that they need for their vacation. But I'm also concerned about those that will opt to drive to Jamestown rather than sail and was wondering what their thoughts are on this matter.

Just in case you were wondering, here are the other events the Northeast Fleet has in the works for the 2005 sailing season. NOTE: Except for the "<a href="http://www.capedory.org/fleetevents/NE- ... html">July 4th Float-In</a>" and the "<a href="http://www.capedory.org/fleetevents/NE- ... l">Raritan Bay Float-In</a>" they are tentative so you won't find them on the CDSOA's "<a href="http://www.capedory.org/events.html">Events</a>" page yet.

Jun 23-28 or Aug 18-23: Hudson River Loop Cruise (possible itinerary)

• Jun 23 - boats arrive at Croton-on-Hudson - anchor north of Croton Point
• Jun 24 - sail to Pollepel Isl. - anchor east of the island
• Jun 25 - sail to Kingston, NY on Roundout Creek - tie up at the municipal dock
• Jun 26 - lay day at Kingston with group dinner ashore
• Jun 27 - sail to Newburgh - North Anchorage Marina
• Jun 28 - sail back to Croton-on-Hudson (Croton Point anchorage) or Haverstraw (Haverstraw Marina)
