Deck Colour

Post by PhilShedd »

I know we have talked about this before but could not find an answer in the archives. I would like to redo the decks this summer and will be using Interlux Brightside Paint. They offer two paint colours that are close. 1 Bristol Beige and #2 Grand Banks Beige.

Of these colours witch best matches the Cape Dory colour?

Thanks for your time

I am curious to know this as well, as the PO of my boat painted it, and I dont care for the color, its sort of a yellowish like an Island Packet, when I do paint it I would like to return to the more standard CD coloring.

Deck color

Post by Carter Brey »

Hi, Phil--

I found Interlux Interdeck Beige to be the best match according to what I can see from old color brochure photos. It has the added advantage of having the grit premixed. Here are snapshots of my deck, fore (at sunrise) and aft (at midday)-- you can decide for yourself. My wife thinks I'm colorblind.

Cordially,
Carter Brey

I just finish painting the nonskid on our CD 31 and used Interlux Bristol Beige, 8oz of flattening agent, and 8oz of nonskid compound per quart of paint. Looks great!!

Based on the color samples on the Interlux website "Grand Banks Beige" is closest to the original buff nonskid on my '79 CD 28.

Interdeck paint

Post by Steve Laume »

Yup I used the blue Interdeck on the inside of a CD-14 and it looked pretty close to original. I decided to switch to beige on our Typhoon and tried the Interdeck there. It does look good but is much more pink than the CD beige. If you want a good match I think you will have to mix up some non-skid. No mtter how you do it you are going to have a great looking boat when you are done, Steve.
