I was hoping to add a rigid boom vang to my CD 28 but I need a minimum of 30" from the bottom of the boom to the bottom of the mast and I'm told I only have 25". Be interested to know if anyone has used a boomkicker in conjunction with a traditional vang set up. I'm interested in getting rid of the topping lift with its awkward adjusting to provide head room when sail is dropped. As always thanks for your help.

Re: Downwind work
Just a suggestion: perhaps you could run your topping lift back to the cockpit. This would place the adjustment at hand.Paul Scribner wrote: I was hoping to add a rigid boom vang to my CD 28 but I need a minimum of 30" from the bottom of the boom to the bottom of the mast and I'm told I only have 25".
