Our local sailing club is adding a keelboat fleet to its agenda. What, or where do I find info on, typical handicapping or ratings; in particular for CD25. How are these ratings then applied in a fairly diverse fleet of boats; e.g., catalina 25-27s, hunters, capris, newports, etc.

Re: Beer Can Racing
I assume you are looking for PHRF. If you want to know basics about that, including a starting point for calculating your own PHRF, tryDon Kolenda wrote: Our local sailing club is adding a keelboat fleet to its agenda. http://www3.sympatico.ca/phrf-lo/PHRFPrimer.html.
A listing of one club's standard ratings can be found at:
http://www.pipeline.com/~wayneb/phrflis.htm#j It lists a lot of boat specs, including the following CPDs:
Boat | base rating
CPD 22 | 276
CPD 27 | 240
CPD 30 | 228
CPD 30 K | 228
CPD 36 | 156
Ratings are regionally determined, and may vary from club to club. If nobody else responds, poke around the web using a search on PHRF and maybe you can find a club where someone races a 25D.

Beer Can Racing - PRHF for Typhoon??
Does anyone know the PRHF rating for the Typhoon? We do a little informal beer-canning and would like to know how to compare the Ty to others in fleet to answer the question - Am I sailing better/worse than that Santana, or am I/they handicapped?
Re: Beer Can Racing- Look Here
The About Cape Dorys section of this website lists the PHRF ratings of Cape Dorys and has a short discussion about how PHRF handicapping works.
I raced my CD28 for many years in "beer can" PHRF races. It's not only a lot of fun, but it makes you a better sailor. By the way, my "slow" Cape Dory finished many race seasons with a first, second or third place trophy
Good Luck,
