does anyone have knowledge of what size engine the designers had in mind when they designed the engine well on the cd 25?

I've just bought a CD25 with a 5hp Evenrude and it is definitely underpowered. I've seen several postings that say a long shaft Johnson 9.9 will not only fit, but will move the boat along at hull speed. I'm pretty sure the manufacturer recommended between 7hp and 8hp.
The best thing to do is visit your engine locker with a tape measure, then go shopping.
