Nonskid gelcoat repair

Post by Brian A. »

I'm planning to repair a cracked area of the nonskid deck of our '82 CD25. Any suggestions as to materials, color matching, and technique would be greatly appreciated. I seem to recall reading an article which mentioned a method of duplicating the nonskid texture by using an imprint made from an undamaged area. Does anyone else have any information on this?

If i remember correctly, you wax an undamaged area of the deck, build a small dam around the waxed area with modeling clay and fill with silicone. After the silicone cures, remove the clay and peel off the silicone imprint.I'm sure the wax acts as a release agent for the silicone.
