Westerbeke Oil Filter Cross-Reference

Post by Jeff Partington »

I have a 22 HP Westerbeke Diesel which had a Fram Oil Filter on it when the boat was purchased. Unfortunately I changed it out to an original equipment filter and threw out the old filter - and the number. Westerbeke won't tell, and Fram never heard of Westerbeke. Anyone know the cross-reference number?? I will be indebted always!

I was in E&B Marine the other day and found a FRAM catalog with all the cross references for the Westerbeke engines. It is the catalog which has all kinds of engines for tractors, generators, marine diesels and the like. There were several refrences made to Westerbeke in this catalog.

Jeff - I can offer the following information with no guarantees, other than these work for my Westerbeke (Universal). I have the Universal M-30 which calls for the following:

Oil Filters:
Universal part # 298854 - or the following which I have compiled
NAPA #1342
DEUTSCH #D484
AC/DELCO #PF-56
MOTORCRAFT #FL-401
FRAM #PH2870A
PUROLATOR #L20252
VOLKSWAGEN # 037-155-561

FYI - Fuel filter:
Universal part # 300209 - or the following which I have compiled
NAPA #1334
AC/DELCO #PF-57
CARQUEST #86390
FRAM # PH6811
MOTORCRAFT #FL-810
PUROLATOR # L14459
HONDA #15400-PR3-004

Hope this assists in your search. The M-30 is 24 horsepower @2800, 3 cylinder, 68 cubic inch. I would suggest you contact Universal to confirm that the Universal part number you require matches the ones I have listed above.

I have a CD30 with the Universal M-18.I did appreciate Chris Reinke's cross reference list based upon the M-30. I have the Universal engine service manual and checked the part numbers. Chris transposed the Universal part numbers for oil and fuel filters i.e. Fuel is # 298854 and oil is #300209. These are the same part numbers for the M-18 so I owe Chris a big thank you.
